Subsidized loan (student)
A federal student loan where the government pays interest while you're in school.
Why it matters
Direct Subsidized Loans are available to undergraduates with financial need. Interest does not accrue during school, the six-month grace period, or authorized deferment. Loan limits are lower than for unsubsidized loans.
