Form 1099
A family of IRS forms reporting non-employment income (contracting, interest, dividends, brokerage).
Why it matters
Common 1099s: 1099-NEC (contract work), 1099-INT (interest), 1099-DIV (dividends), 1099-B (brokerage sales), 1099-MISC (other income), 1099-K (payment platforms). Not receiving one doesn't mean the income isn't taxable — it still is.
